Important Weather InformationWinter is fast approaching. Inevitably that means conditions will be poor enough at some point to warrant a snow day, early dismissal, or late start.

Last year, we decided to implement a late start option. Alerts will be communicated the same as for a snow day. The start of school will merely be pushed back to late morning to allow conditions to improve. Generally this will be about 10:30 am but will depend on conditions.

The quickest way to receive information is through our Blue Jay Connect alert system. Through Blue Jay Connect you will receive calls, updates, and alerts sent to your phone or email. Emergency phone notifications are automatic when you enroll your child. To receive email and/or text notifications, be sure to activate your parent account through PowerSchool. Building offices can help you sign up for those alerts if you have not already accessed it.

You can also download the West Platte app in your app store by searching for “West Platte School District”. Get West Platte news, updates and notifications, calendars, lunch menus, sports, and more at your fingertips with our free mobile app.

Check us out on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to get instant updates on events, closings, and other important reminders.

Major Kansas City area television stations are also alerted when school status is changed due to weather. We ask for your patience and understanding as winter approaches and as we strive to keep our kids safe.
